What are the possible side effects of Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray?
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray and call your doctor at once if you have:

severe sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, redness or swelling in your nose, or other worsening nasal symptoms (may be a sign of overuse of Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray);

severe stinging, burning, or irritation inside your nose;
-
severe dizziness, restless feeling, nervousness, or insomnia;
-
mood changes, unusual thoughts or behavior;
-
tremors or shaking; or
-
little or no urination.
Side effects may be more likely in older adults.
Common side effects may include:

temporary sneezing;
-
mild burning, dryness, cold feeling, or irritation inside your nose;
-
headache, dizziness, weakness;
-
feeling excited or restless (especially in children); or
-
mild sleep problems.

Side effects of Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray in details
Applies to phenylephrine: intravenous solution
As well as its needed effects, phenylephrine (the active ingredient contained in Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray) may cause unwanted side effects that require medical attention.
If any of the following side effects occur while taking phenylephrine, check with your doctor or nurse immediately:
Incidence not known:
- Blurred vision
- chest pain or discomfort
- difficult or labored breathing
- dizziness
- fainting
- fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
- headache
- nausea or vomiting
- nervousness
- pain in the shoulders, arms, jaw, or neck
- pounding in the ears
- sweating
- tightness in the chest
- unusual tiredness
If any of the following symptoms of overdose occur while taking phenylephrine, get emergency help immediately:
Symptoms of overdose:
- Feeling of fullness in the head
- pounding or rapid pulse
- tingling in the arms or legs
- vomiting
Minor Side Effects
Some phenylephrine side effects may not need any medical attention. As your body gets used to the medicine these side effects may disappear. Your health care professional may be able to help you prevent or reduce these side effects, but do check with them if any of the following side effects continue, or if you are concerned about them:

- itching skin
- nausea
- pain in the neck
- pain or discomfort in chest, upper stomach, or throat
What is the most important information I should know about Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray?
- Some of these products contain sulfites, which can cause allergic reactions in certain individuals (eg, asthma patients). If you have previously had allergic reactions to sulfites, contact your pharmacist to determine if the product you are taking contains sulfites.
- Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray may cause tissue damage if it leaks from the vein. Tell your nurse if you have any redness, burning, pain, swelling, blisters, skin sores, or leaking of fluid where the medicine is going into your body.
- Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
- Have your blood pressure checked often. Talk with your doctor.
- Lab tests, including kidney function, may be performed to while you use Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray. These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
- Use Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray while you are pregnant. It is unknown if Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray contraindications
Ophthalmic solutions of Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray (phenylephrine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution) hydrochloride are contraindicated in persons with narrow angle glaucoma (and in those individuals who are hypersensitive to Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray (phenylephrine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution) ). Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray (phenylephrine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution) hydrochloride 10 percent ophthalmic solutions are contraindicated in infants and in patients with aneurysms.
